Nardini Sisters

Nardini Sisters Callista, Sola, Luciana Rodius and Carmelina Zinkl arrived in South Africa on January 24, 1955. They settled in Nkandla on November 15, 1958, joining the Benedictine Sisters who had been working there since 1939. Then on November 1, 1959, the Nardini Sisters assumed responsibility for the hospital. Sister M. Sola, now 90, reflects on their early years in Zululand.

The Nardini Sisters in South Africa

The Nardini Sisters have served as missionaries in South Africa for more than 55 years impacting the lives of countless men, women and children. The challenges they face today continue as HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty persist in South Africa. The quiet, deliberate work of these missionaries is based on the teachings of their founder, the Reverend Dr. Paul Joseph Nardini.
